StereoField plugin interface — stereo imaging plugin for Final Cut Pro

Watch StereoField in action

This is stereo control.

Four independent engines.
One complete toolkit.

Most tools give you a width knob. You get what the developer decided was enough. StereoField gives you four purpose-built processing sections — Width, Enhance, Phase, and Balance — each independently toggleable so you engage only what your audio actually needs. Mid-Side width from 0% to 200%. Phase rotation from 0° to 360° targeting any frequency. Haas-effect spreading. Per-channel gain trim of ±24 dB. And then there's the Spectral Panner — eight separate frequency bands, each placed anywhere across the stereo field with equal-power crossfade. Put the bass in the center, spread the mids, push the air to the edges. None of this is available anywhere else inside Final Cut Pro. This is what professional stereo work looks like.

StereoField — Processing Architecture

Five engines.
Every stereo
problem solved.

StereoField's architecture is built around four purpose-built sections, each independently togglable so you engage only what your audio needs. From phase correction to creative width, from bass management to the Spectral Panner — this is the complete stereo toolkit Final Cut Pro never had.

Section 01
WIDTH
Industry-standard Mid-Side processing for precise, phase-coherent stereo control. The master Width knob goes from 0% (full mono) to 200% (hyper-wide). Independent Mid and Side gain (±12 dB each) let you balance centered content against ambient stereo information. Lo Mono collapses bass below a user-selected crossover to mono — essential for club systems, broadcast delivery, and earbuds where low-end phase cancellation destroys sub-bass punch.
Width 0–200% Mid Gain Side Gain Lo Mono Crossover
Section 02
ENHANCE
Psychoacoustic depth for recordings that feel flat or lifeless. The Haas spreader (0–100%, up to 30ms delay) creates natural-sounding width that ears perceive as space rather than echo. Diffuse runs your signal through an allpass blur network for subtle reverblike smear without reverb tails. Tilt shifts spectral balance across the stereo field — push highs one way, lows the other. A Depth wet/dry blend dials in exactly how much enhancement touches your signal.
Haas Spread Delay 0–30ms Diffuse Tilt Depth
Section 03
PHASE
Phase issues are invisible but immediately audible — hollow, thin, combfiltered sound that no EQ can fix. Phase Rotate cascades allpass filters through a full 0–360° rotation. Phase Freq (20Hz–20kHz) and Phase Spread (0.1–4x Q) let you target a specific frequency region for rotation, leaving the rest of the spectrum untouched. Stereo Phase offsets L and R against each other (0–180°) for creative decorrelation. Flip R inverts the right channel polarity in one click.
Phase Rotate 0–360° Phase Freq Phase Spread Stereo Phase Flip R
Section 04
BALANCE
Your mixing desk in miniature. Pan moves the full stereo image left or right (±100%). Trim L and Trim R provide up to ±24 dB of independent gain on each channel — essential for correcting mismatched microphone levels in dual-mono or multi-mic recordings. Mono sums both channels for instant compatibility checking. Swap L/R flips the channels in one click — a lifesaver when a stereo pair was cabled in reverse.
Pan ±100% Trim L ±24dB Trim R ±24dB Mono Sum Swap L/R
Spectral Panner
Frequency-selective placement. Eight bands. Total control.
Most stereo tools move everything at once. The Spectral Panner splits your audio into eight precision octave bands and lets you place each one independently across the stereo field — with equal-power crossfade so there are no phase artifacts and no harshness. Put the sub-bass in the center where it belongs. Spread the mids. Push the high-frequency air to the far edges. Build spatial signatures that no other tool inside Final Cut Pro can touch.

The Visual Dome.

See your stereo
field. In real time.
At 60fps.

At the right side of the plugin sits StereoField's live metering suite — always on, always accurate. The dome-style stereo field visualizer gives you an at-a-glance read of image shape and width. The Goniometer (Lissajous display) is the professional standard for stereo field analysis — now living inside Final Cut Pro for the first time. The Correlation Meter reveals phase problems before they reach your timeline. If the meter goes negative, something is wrong — phase cancellation will pull power out of your mix the moment anyone listens in mono. The stereo width meter gives you numerical and visual confirmation of your image at all times. L/R level meters show peak and RMS for both channels. When the picture looks right, the sound is right.

Spectral Panner

Eight bands.
Every frequency
in its place.

StereoField's Spectral Panner splits your audio into eight precision octave bands and lets you place each one anywhere across the stereo field with equal-power crossfade — no phase artifacts, no harshness. Pan the lows to center where they belong, spread the mids, push the air to the far edges. Or build completely unconventional spatial signatures that would be impossible with any other FCP tool.

Band 1
Below 80 Hz
Sub-bass and kick drum fundamentals. Keeps your low end centered and phase-safe.
Band 2
80–160 Hz
Upper bass and warmth. Bass guitar, kick body, low synth rumble.
Band 3
160–320 Hz
Low midrange body. Muddiness lives here — or thickness, depending on treatment.
Band 4
320–640 Hz
Midrange presence. Guitars, piano mid, vocal body and formants.
Band 5
640–1,280 Hz
Upper mid clarity. Vocal intelligibility, guitar bite, snare crack.
Band 6
1,280–2,560 Hz
Presence and attack. Where ears are most sensitive — cuts through a mix.
Band 7
2,560–5,120 Hz
High presence and sibilance. Cymbals, consonants, string attack.
Band 8
Above 5,120 Hz
Air and shimmer. Spread this band wide and the mix opens up into space.
